I'm on a cleanse....

I'm a faster. I strive to fast 1 day per week. But once a year I fast for 3 weeks. Why am I telling y'all any of this? Because it's brought up some "stuff" for me.

Now there are 2 reasons to cleanse... The first is to give my digestive system a break. I really don't believe that people are meant to eat as they do. Everything needs rest. So does the digestive system. I actually try to only eat two meals per day. No, I am not affiliated with the Nation of Islam. But I have read "How to Eat to Live". But those meals need to be everything. I get physically angry if my food isn't good. The second reason, for this blog's sake is the spiritual aspect. Lots of religions advocate fasting to draw closer to their deities or to ready themselves for rituals. I recognize the New Year as the spring equinox. So, 3 weeks prior, I do a liquid cleanse, where I only drink fluids. No chewing! And the cleanse ends the day before the equinox. I've been doing this over 20 years.

All my cleanses are different. One year I spent 3 days in each chakra. That cleanse was actually fun. I actually started this tradition because I was preparing for surgery. The reason I'm sharing this is because this fast has brought up issues that I thought I had mastered, but apparently only buried. And like the zombie it is... it has drug itself out of the murk to stand defiantly in my face with its hot bad breath. So now what?

Yeah. Now what? I'm not about to share my issues. I don't know y'all like that. And in this age of oversharing... I like to keep some things private. But my plan is to put on my big girl drawers and deal with my creeper with all its ugly machinations. But let's be clear.... It was the fast that brought things to the surface. And isn't that what you want in a spiritual practice?

Ok Bye!

New Year, New Me!

I recognize the spring equinox as the beginning of the new year. It's also when I end my annual cleanse, so that I may enter the new year...
